SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39

Congratulating Lucille Chandler on her selection as the third
Speaker of the House for the National Silver Haired Congress.
Whereas, Lucille Chandler of Kanawha County is a long-standing
and dedicated member of her community, serving numerous clubs and
organizations through her many years of service; and
Whereas, Lucille Chandler has been involved in numerous
programs to assist senior citizens. She served for four years as
a member of the West Virginia Silver Haired Legislature, three of
which she served as Speaker of the House; and
Whereas, Lucille Chandler has served as a member of the
National Silver Haired Congress since its inception in 1994. She
was appointed to serve as Chairman of the General Legislation
Committee of the National Silver Haired Congress at its 2000
session, which was held in February; and
Whereas, Lucille Chandler was elected February 28, 2000, to
serve a two-year term as the third Speaker of the House for the National Silver Haired Congress. She is the first West Virginia
senior to hold this position of honor and distinction; therefore,
be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates Lucille Chandler of
Kanawha County on her selection as the third Speaker of the House
for the National Silver Haired Congress; and
be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby commends the
dedication and commitment of Lucille Chandler for her many
contributions to her community and her state through her active
participation in numerous civic-minded organizations and clubs,
including her dedicated service to West Virginia's senior citizens;
and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Lucille Chandler, distinguished
Speaker of the House for the National Silver Haired Congress.
